Forwarding suspicious emails helps ITS alert other possible recipients and take measures to protect the campus from malicious attachments, links, and social engineering attacks (e.g, phishing emails).
Outlook Client (Windows only)
- In the Outlook client, the Phish Alert feature is available on the top right corner of the Home ribbon.Clicking on the Phish Alert icon selects the email you have highlighted or opened and displays a prompt asking you confirm that you want to report the message. Selecting "Yes" will result in the message being forwarded to infosec@albany.edu and deleting the copy of the message in your email account. A "Thank You" pop-up will appear confirming that the message was forwarded. Selecting "No," results in no action.
OWAOWA
- The only difference between the Outlook and OWA Phish Alert is its location. In OWA you will find the link embedded in the email, located just between the To: field in the message header and the body of the email. Otherwise, the behavior is the same.
