  • Use the Phish Alert function available in the Outlook client (Windows only) and the Outlook Web App (OWA).  
  • Please note that a restart of Outlook anytime after Oct. 8, 2016 is required to display the Phish Alert tool.
  • With the message highlighted in the preview pane, or opened to view, click the Phish Alert icon.  A copy of the message will forward to the Information Security team (infosec@albany.edu) and the message will be deleted automatically from your email account.

Outlook Client (Windows only)

  • A restart of Outlook anytime after October 8, 2016 is required to display the Phish Alert tool.
  • In the Outlook client, the Phish Alert feature is available on the top right corner of the Home ribbon.Clicking on the Phish Alert icon selects the email you have highlighted or opened and displays a prompt asking you confirm that you want to report the message. Selecting "Yes" will result in the message being forwarded to infosec@albany.edu and deleting the copy of the message in your email account. A "Thank You" pop-up will appear confirming that the message was forwarded. Selecting "No," results in no action.
