Description:

Most University-owned computers are currently running Windows 10 which reaches end of life in October of 2025.  This means that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates after October 2025.  Any computers running Windows 11 after that date will present a security issue risk to the rest of the campus.

There are many computers at the university that do not have the necessary hardware to run Windows 11.  These computers should must be replaced before the Fall 2025 semester.  All university-owned computers need to be updated to Windows 11 by August 2025.

  • You will not end up with a large number of computers to replace 5 to 6 years from now.
  • The cost will be spread out over 2 budget years.
  • ITS cannot possibly replace all of the computers that need replacement over the summer of 2025.

How do I know if my computer needs to be replaced?

Each division, school and college has a designated point of contact (link to list).  Consult with them to see if your computer needs to be replaced.  If you have the name of your computer, your point of contact will be able to easily assist you.
