Connecting to UAlbany WiFi - Linux
Action
To connect to UAlbany WiFi using a Linux device, follow the steps below.
Instructions
- Click on the network manager icon located in your panel.
- Select UAlbanyWiFi
- Make sure that the network settings are properly configured:
- Wireless Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- CA Certificate: USERTrust RSA Certification Authority (This certificate is located in /etc/ssl/certs).
- PEAP Version: Automatic
- Domain (if available): albany.edu
- Inner Authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Enter your NetID and password.
Click Connect.
If you are not able to connect to the wireless make sure that your wireless driver is properly enabled. You may need to be connected through Ethernet to update your drivers.
- In your panel click on System.
- Under System select Administration.
- In the adjacent menu select Hardware Drivers. Your computer will search for drivers and any updates.
- Select your wireless driver and then at the bottom of the window select Activate.
Your wireless driver will become enabled and you should be able to establish a wireless connection with the network.
