For PowerPoint presentations created with embedded audio or video, these embedded files may not play when opened in Google Slides on a Chromebook, instead just displaying a speaker or other icon.

Resolution

Sometimes, starting the presentation in presentation mode, not editing mode, will allow the files to play when the slide is showing.

If not, upload the PowerPoint file to your OneDrive for Business storage, open it in the PowerPoint web app (much like Google Slides), and start the presentation in presentation mode, not editing mode, to allow the files to play when the slide is showing.
