ITS Policy for University-Owned Computers
The following are required of all university-owned computers and their users. Researchers, Â Self-Supported Centers, Institutes, Labs and TCs will be expected to ensure their research-funded and department computers and laptops and their users comply with this policy.
Have a supported operating system
Rationale: Â Â Security updates are only available for supported operating systems, if special circumstances preclude use of a supported operating system, the workstation cannot be connected to the campus public network
Be joined to the domain (univ.albany.edu)
Rationale:Â In order for ITS to maintain an accurate campus-wide workstation inventory and ensure all workstations are patched and secure.Â
Users of University-owned computers and laptops must log in with their netID
Rationale:Â All university community members must authenticate to access university systems and resources.
