The following instructions will allow students to install SPSS on their personally-owned computers at no charge. For help using SPSS, please work with your instructor, advisor, or supervisor.

**SPSS version 29.0.2 is compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma.

Instructions

**The windows you see on your personal device may vary depending on the version of macOS installed.**

1. Log into the VPN (Instructions)
   
   
2. Download the SPSS installer here
   
   
3. Locate the file and double click on it.
   Download and run SPSS Statistics 26Then click Continue.

4. Click on the Open Continue button.

6. Choose your language and click on the OK button.

8. Accept the software license terms by clicking on the Agree button.

9. Click on the radio button next to I accept the terms in the license agreement Accept the default location or choose another drive for installation and click the Next Continue button.

10. Click on the Next Install button.

11. Enter you computer's administrator credentials and click on the Install Software button.

14. You may be presented with a window to grant permission to the installer to access the folder location where the installation files are saved.  Click the OK button.

15. Click on the Install Close button.

16. Locate the installation of SPSS finish.
    Image RemovedVerify that box next to Start SPSS Statistics 26 License Authorization Wizard now is checked and click Done.
    Image RemovedIBM SPSS Statistics Folder in Finder under Applications.  Double click on SPSS Statistics to open the application and complete installation.

17. Click on the Next Launch License Wizard button.

18. Verify that Select the Concurrent user license is selected radio button and then click the Next button.

19. Enter spss-acad.itec.suny.edu as for the License Manager name and click the Next manager server name. Then click the Next button.

20. Once licensing has been completed click on the Finish button.

21. Click the Restart button to restart SPSS and apply the license. SPSS is now licensed and ready to usebe used.
    Image RemovedOnly if you are using macOS 10.15 Catalina, you also need to install a patch to allow SPSS to access files and run properly:
22. Go to SPSS's FixPack information page and follow the link to the IBM Fix Central website
23. Find the download called "fix pack: 26.0-IM-S26STATC-Mac-FP001" from the list (filtering to just show Mac OS X and Fix Packs may help)
24. Click the link to download this file
25. You will be prompted to create a free IBM account, or log in to one if you have one already
26. Once you have downloaded the install file, run it and follow the prompts
When the installer is finished, proceed with using SPSSImage Added
27. SPSS should open. Please note that you need to have VPN connected for every time you use SPSS.
