Install SPSS for Mac on Personally-owned Computers

Action

The following instructions will allow students to install SPSS on their personally-owned computers at no charge. For help using SPSS, please work with your instructor, advisor, or supervisor.

**SPSS version 29.0.2 is compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma.

Instructions

**The windows you see on your personal device may vary depending on the version of macOS installed.**

  1. Log into the VPN (Instructions)


  2. Download the SPSS installer here


  3. Locate the file and double click on it. Then click Continue.




  4. Click on the Continue button.




  5. Click on the Continue button.

  7. Accept the software license terms by clicking on the Agree button.




  8. Accept the default location or choose another drive for installation and click the Continue button.




  9. Click on the Install button.




  10. Enter you computer's administrator credentials and click on the Install Software button.




  11. You may be presented with a window to grant permission to the installer to access the folder location where the installation files are saved.  Click the OK button.




  12. Click on the Close button.




  13. Locate the IBM SPSS Statistics Folder in Finder under Applications.  Double click on SPSS Statistics to open the application and complete installation.




  14. Click on the Launch License Wizard button.




  15. Select the Concurrent user license radio button and then click Next button.




  16. Enter spss-acad.itec.suny.edu for the License manager server name. Then click the Next button.




  17. Once licensing has been completed click on the Finish button.




  18. Click the Restart button to restart SPSS and apply the license. SPSS is now ready to be used.

  19. SPSS should open. Please note that you need to have VPN connected for every time you use SPSS.
