Note

If your Windows computer needed the upgrade last semester, and it missed the opportunity, you may experience multiple reboots or slow logins until the upgrade is completed. This is an automatic process and the installation cannot be stopped.

What you need to know

  • May 1, 2024 - Win 10 and Win 11 updates will be available for users to install 
  • June 1

ITS recommends installing the update before leaving campus for the summer. Install this yourself via Software Center, or contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance. 

Update in May to minimize disruption

On May 1, 2024, the appropriate upgrade will be available
  • There will be no way to control when the upgrade occurs.

  • The appropriate upgrade will show in your computer's Software Center.

  • The upgrade will take 60 to 120 minutes.

  • Backup your computer

before starting the update.
  • Select the update and follow installation prompts or these detailed instructions:
    1. Software Center - Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2  In-Place Update
    2. Updating Windows 10 to version 21H2
  • For assistance with installation,
    • ITS recommends an OS upgrade be performed on the universities physical network (bring remote devices to campus) for the most reliable experience. If attempting to upgrade the OS on a remote device (laptop at home), the device needs to be connected to universities VPN
