ITS uses the tools below to efficiently manage university-owned computers.  These tools do the following:

  • Deploy patches and software
  • Maintain the University computer inventory
  • Protect against malware and viruses

Ensuring that all computers are patched and running a supported operating system is the first step in maintaining security and is required by university policy if a device is connected to the UAlbany network .

All university-owned computers, including research funded computers, must be:

  • Joined to the UAlbany Windows domain
  • Enrolled in AllSight for inventory management
  • macOS computers must be enrolled in Jamf for deployment of patches and software.
  • Windows computers must have MECM client installed for deployment of patches and software.
  • Have Microsoft Defender installed
  • Be registered in NetReg
