ITS uses the tools below to efficiently manage university-owned computers. These tools do the following:
- Deploy patches and software
- Maintain the University computer inventory
- Protect against malware and viruses
Ensuring that all computers are patched and running a supported operating system is the first step in maintaining security and is required by university policy if a device is connected to the UAlbany network .
All university-owned computers, including research funded computers, must be:
- Joined to the UAlbany Windows domain
- Enrolled in AllSight for inventory management
- macOS computers must be enrolled in Jamf for deployment of patches and software.
- Windows computers must have MECM client installed for deployment of patches and software.
- Have Microsoft Defender installed
- Be registered in NetReg
