You can sync your SkyDrive Pro library to your computer so that you have a copy in both places.  You can then work in Windows Explorer and open/save to this location directly from any application installed on your computer.  Any updates in either location will sync with the other whenever your computer is online.

Office 2013

This article assumes you have already installed Office 2013 or the standalone SkyDrive Pro client.

Set up the client to sync your SkyDrive Pro library to your computer

Once you have set up Sync the first time, your files will automatically sync back and forth when they are changed either on your computer or in SkyDrive Pro. It sometimes takes a couple of minutes for this to happen. If you want the sync to happen faster, you can click on the Sync button.

Method 1

You can also start the sync wizard from the SkyDrive Pro menu in your Windows notification area.

  1. Select the SkyDrive Pro icon (which looks like a blue cloud) and then select Sync a new library.

  2. If you have yet to sync any SharePoint libraries to your computer, the Sync Library wizard automatically prompts you to sync your SkyDrive Pro library and references its web address.SkyDrive Pro wizard with the prefilled URL
  3. If you have already synced at least one other library, the wizard prompts you to specify the address of the library you now want to sync. (this is not typical).

Method 2

This section assumes you are logged into SkyDrive Pro in a web browser.

  1. Select Sync at the top of the page.

  2. At the prompt, click Sync now to open the SkyDrive Pro wizard.

The wizard automatically fills in the name and web address of your SkyDrive Pro library. You can change these values if desired, but it is best to accept the default folder:

  3. Select Sync Now in the wizard to start syncing.
  4. You may be prompted for login information.  You can click Show my files… in the wizard to open the synced SkyDrive Pro library folder in Windows Explorer. The folder is listed in your Favorites with the name “SkyDrive Pro”.
