To maintain the University's data security, data integrity, and compliance, ITS vets all requests for the use of 3rd party applications in Microsoft Office 365.

Broadcast Email and LISTSERV lists

Provides a single email address that delivers mail to all members of the group/team, which can also include non-UAlbany Mail addresses.

File Storage and Collaboration Tools

ITS provides collaboration tools and file storage options to enable University faculty, staff, and students to work together efficiently with anyone, anywhere, anytime. These tools ensure that work and school-related data are stored securely.

Microsoft 365 Apps

Microsoft 365 Apps (M365) is the name of the latest version of Microsoft Office that enables you to work from the very latest versions of Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot provides AI assistance within UAlbany’s Microsoft 365 environment. It is available in two experiences: Copilot Chat (free), with chat‑based help and the ability to open or upload files; and Microsoft 365 Copilot (paid license), that utilizes any data that you have permission to access within UAlbany’s Microsoft 365 platform, including Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams content.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a digital hub that brings conversations, content, and apps together in one place, so your team has easy access to all the tools they need to work effectively. Share files, edit documents, take notes, schedule meetings, chat with the group all right in Teams. 

On-premise SMTP Server

ITS provides this service to ensure that all approved campus servers are able to access the University's on-premise SMTP service for bulk mailings. 

SharePoint Team Sites

SharePoint team sites are websites that connect you and your team to shared content and resources. 

Smartsheet

Smartsheet is an application often used for project management and collaboration.  It is used to create, manage, and share projects, assign tasks, track project progress, manage calendars, share documents, and manage other work.

UAlbany Mail - Individual Mailboxes

Individual UAlbany Mail email accounts in Exchange Online (Microsoft 365), accessed via Outlook, including integrated calendar and contacts, used for official University communications.
