Enrolling your computer in Jamf

These instructions were written for macOS 12 and macOS 13.  Your experience may be different if you have a different OS.

You must be an Administrator on your Mac to enroll in Jamf.  If you experience any issues please respond to the enrollment email or contact the ITS Service Desk https://www.albany.edu/its.

Instructions

  1. Find the email from askIT@albany.edu with the subject "Enrolling your University-owned computer in Jamf".
  2. If you haven't done so already, click the link at the bottom of the email to begin the enrollment process.  
  3. Click continue on the webpage.


  4. Clicking continue will download a Profile to your downloads folder. This notification will appear in the top right corner of your screen:


  5. Open Profiles.

    Launch System Preferences either from the Dock or the Apple logo in the top left of your screen > System Preferences then click on Profiles:

    Launch System Settings either from the Dock or the Apple logo in the top left of your screen > System Settings > Privacy and Security >  Profiles (scroll to the bottom of the window):

  6. Double click on MDM Profile:


  7. Click Install:

  8. Click Install again (this screenshot may look different depending on the OS):


  9. Enter your Mac's password and click Enroll:


  10. To confirm that your UAlbany computer is enrolled successfully, look for the Self Service application, which will be automatically installed shortly after your device is enrolled. On macOS, Self Service is located in the Applications folder.
