  1. Log into mail.albany.edu 
  2. Request the desktop version of the site (via long hold on the new tab icon) 
  3. Use it like the desktop browser to log Log into the mailboxDepartmental Mailbox.  
  4. Once you do that, the URL will be something like the following (substitute your mailbox alias for MAILBOXALIAS)
    https://outlook.office.com/mail/MAILBOXALIAS@albany.edu/inbox
  5. Alternatively, copy and paste that above address, substituting your Departmental Mailbox alias (the part before @albany.edu) for MAILBOXALIAS, and then log in as yourself, and you will be brought right to the mailbox.

  1. Tap the Settings app.
  2. Tap Passwords & Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. Fill in the account NameEmail address, and Description.  Type something random into the Password field.  Tap Next.
  7. You will see it Looking up your account and then Verifying for a moment.  Then it will tell you the IMAP server is not responding and give you the chance to manually enter settings.  

    Tap OK.
  8. Set the following:

    For Incoming Mail Server, set the following:
    Host Name: outlook.office365.com
    User Name: <yourpersonalalias>@albany.edu/<deptaccountalias> (For example if your UAlbany Mail address is jsmith@albany.edu and the Departmental mailbox address is mydept@albany.edu, use jsmith@albany.edu/mydept)
    Password: Your personal password 
  9. For Outgoing Mail Server, set the following:
    Host Name: smtp.outlook.office365.com
    User Name: Your full personal UAlbany Mail email address
    Password: Your personal password
  10. Ensure that Mail is set on (green) and tap Save

    Note

    Note that under Account > Advanced > DELETED MESSAGES > Remove, the default setting is now "After one week".  This means that any messages in your Deleted Items folder will be automatically purged after one week.  To avoid this, change that setting.
     

    You can recover messages that are purged this way by using Recover Deleted Items for up to 2 weeks from the time the purge occurs.
