You can connect from an iOS or iPadOS device to your Network locations on Lincoln, though it may requires additional apps as per below.

  1. GlobalProtect VPN client (Clients is are available free from App Store for iOS/Apple devices. Just search for "GlobalProtect.")If you are connecting . See Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN Client Installation (iOS) for instructions.)
    1. Note: the VPN is not required while on the University network, then you do not need to use Cisco AnyConnect VPN. 
  2. A third-party app like Good Reader or FileBrowserGo to access the network drive (Available in the iOS App Store.)

Connect

  1. If you're not on the University's network, first set up the GlobalProtect VPN to connect to uavpn.albany.edu.  Enter your UAlbany NetID and password to and log in. 
  2. Once connected to the VPN, open Good Reader/FileBrowserGo Files to access the network share.
  3. Set it up to connect to a SMB server with an IP address of Go to the Browse tab and Tap theImage Added (...) icon at the top:

  4. Tap Connect To Server:

  5. For Server, enter smb://lincoln.univ.albany.edu/SHARE (e.g. For ITS, use: smb://169lincoln.226univ.63albany.45edu/ITS.  For your U: Drive, use smb://lincoln.univ.albany.edu/NETID, where NETID is your actual NetID.)

  6. For username, enter ualbany\NETID (replacing NETID with your actual NetID), and enter your UAlbany password for the password.
  7. You will now be connected to Lincoln your network drive and can browse the available folders.  Note that any folders which you do not have permissions to view will be inaccessible.
