Managing the identities individuals use to access campus IT resources using secure processes and technology.

2-Step with Duo

2-Step with Duo provides an additional layer of protection to your UAlbany account by requiring you to confirm your identity with a verified Duo push when logging into campus IT services.

Federated Authentication

The University uses Federated Authentication and Single Sign On (SSO) to provide access to a wide range of online resources using your NetID and password instead of managing multiple accounts.

Generic User Accounts

A generic identifier that provides access to campus IT resources to individuals who are not part of the campus community. A University sponsor is required.

NetID

A unique identifier that provides each member of the campus community with access to approved resources.

Security Certificates

Security certificates (also known as Secure Socket Layer or SSL certificates) are available for protecting University websites. They indicate that an online environment is secure and can be used to transmit personal information, such as a NetID and password, credit card information, and other personal data that needs to be kept private.

Service Accounts

A generic identifier associated with a specific system or application that is used to authenticate access to another system or application.
