2023-25 Faculty-Staff Computer Upgrade Project
This project replaces computers that are unable to run Windows 11 by October 2025, when support for Windows 10 ends. Computers replaced under this project will be replaced as part of the Centralized Funding Model for Computers. All computers must be in compliance with the Policy for University-Owned Computers. ITS estimates that nearly half of all university-owned computers will need to be replaced. Generally, these are computers purchased in 2018 or earlier.Â
Â
Who is responsible for replacement costs?
Replacement computers assigned to faculty/staff in campus departments and these RF-funded units will be funded by ITS as part of the Centralized Funding Model for Computers.
Computers for RF-funded staff positions will require an identified funding source.
Computers required for research labs or research grant commitments will require a departmental or research funding source.
What computer will ITS provide?
ITS replaces one computer per person with the Standard Computer Configurations for Faculty and StaffÂ
Computer replacement processÂ
ITS uses a centralized inventory to identify computers needing replacement.Â
ITS will develop a schedule to replace computers
Before your scheduled replacement you should:
Create a list of additional software to be re-installed
Create a list of printers you use
ITS removes and securely disposes of all replaced computers.
