Using FileZilla to Connect to your Personal, Faculty, Department or Research Web Site on PC

Instructions

  1. Connect to webpub.albany.edu using an SFTP client (such as FileZilla, WinSCP or CyberDuck)

    If you are off campus or students using ResNet, you will need to connect using VPN before the SFTP connection will work.

  2. Once you have installed and opened FileZilla or a similar SFTP application: Enter webpub.albany.edu as your host, your NetID as your username (You must enter your NetID with lowercase letters), and 22 as your port number. Click Quickconnect.
    Enter itsunix.albany.edu as your host, your NetID as your username, and 22 as your port number. Click Quickconnect.

  3. Enter the name of your remote site. And drag and drop your files from your local drive to your remote site folder.
    Enter Host, Net ID, Password, and click the Quick Connect button

  4. In the directory of your for  your website, load all of the files that are to appear on the website. These will include HTML, images, videos, and other files. 


You can also use an HTML editor such as Adobe Dreamweaver.

If a default home page is to be used, it needs to be named index.html.
