Action
Email aliases for students (the portion of the email address that comes before "@albany.edu") are based on your primary name in MyUAlbany records.
Instructions
- To change your name in MyUAlbany
- Students need to submit a Change of Name form to the Registrar's Office.
- Faculty/Staff need to go to HR's website: http://www.albany.edu/hr/person-info.php to update the Primary/Legal Name record.
- Once the name change is reflected in MyUAlbany, request an alias change by submitting an ITS Service Desk Request.

All email aliases are created based on the following protocol:
- Option 1:
FirstInitial+LastName@albany.edu
(e.g. jdoe@albany.edu) - Option 2 (if Option 1 is not available):
FirstInitial+MiddleInitial+LastName@albany.edu
(e.g. jsdoe@albany.edu) - Option 3 (if Option 2 is not available):
FirstInitial+LastName#@albany.edu (where # is the next available number, excluding numbers beginning with 0 and/or 1)
(e.g. jdoe2@albany.edu)
