Panopto is Replacing Ensemble Video

Panopto, UAlbany’s new video management system, will be available for instructors to use on September 23, 2022.  A leading video management platform for higher education, Panopto will replace Ensemble Video when it is discontinued on December 31, 2022.

What is Panopto?

Panopto is a full featured video content management system (VCMS) providing the following capabilities:

• Video Content Management

• Lecture Capture

• Video Editing

• Integration with Brightspace

• Video Accessibility

• Quizzing

What is the timeline for moving to Panopto?

• Panopto will be available for instructors to upload videos starting on September 23, 2022.  

• Start using Panopto through your Brightspace course, following these instructions: Add Panopto to your Brightspace Course.

• Video uploads to Ensemble can continue until September 30, 2022. 

• Videos in Ensemble will be viewable until December 31, 2022, when the system will be discontinued.

What happens to my videos/playlists in Ensemble?

• Videos stored in Ensemble prior to September 22, 2022 will be copied to the Panopto system.

• You can locate these migrated videos in the Panopto My Folder  / Ensemble Migrations area.

• Your videos will be available to you in Ensemble until December 31, 2022.

• You can download videos from Ensemble and save them to OneDrive.

What happens to my Ensemble videos in Blackboard/Brightspace?

• Ensemble videos migrated to Panopto are available in the My Folder / Ensemble Migrations area in Panopto.

• Links to videos in Blackboard/Brightspace will be redirected to the migrated version of the video in Panopto.

How can I access Panopto?

• Start using Panopto through your Brightspace course, following these instructions: Add Panopto to your Brightspace Course.

• Instructors who used Ensemble as of September 22, 2022 and whose UAlbany NetID remains active  already have a Panopto account.

What resources are available to help me learn about using Panopto?

There are several resources available to help you learn Panopto, including live training, on-demand materials like videos, how-to articles, and tutorials, and more.
