Student Printing - Color printing best practices

Issue: A print job was sent to the color printer but does not print and disappears from the queue.

Reason: The color printer does not print files that are not Letter Size.

Solution: Select the Letter Size (8.5 x 11 inches) on the document before printing from a PC or Mac in the library or print to PDF at Letter size before uploading to print.albany.edu.



Converting a file to PDF in Windows

  1. On a Windows computer, go to print the image.

  2. Under Printer select Microsoft Print to PDF.

  3. Ensure that the Paper size is set to Letter (the 8.5” x 11” size).

  4. Click Print to save this image as a PDF.

  5. Go to print.albany.edu and upload the new PDF to your profile.

Setting Page Size for PDF in Windows

  1. On a Windows computer, go to print the document.

  2. Under Printer select Microsoft Print to PDF.

  3. Ensure that the Page Sizing & Handling radio button is set to Fit.

  4. Click Page Setup... at the bottom lef.

  5. Ensure that the Paper size is set to Letter (the 8.5” x 11” size).

  6. Click Print to save this document as a PDF.

  7. Go to print.albany.edu and upload the new PDF to your profile.

Setting Size of Documents and Convert a File to PDF on a Mac

  1. On a Mac, go to print the document.

  2. Ensure that the Paper size is set to “Letter” (the 8.5” x 11” size).

  3. In the bottom left, make sure PDF is selected.

  4. Click Print to save this as a PDF.

  5. Go to print.albany.edu and upload the new PDF to your profile.
