There are varying levels of access possible as described at Explanation of folder permission levels in UAlbany Mail.

To access shared folders from another UAlbany Mail user, you can either open it each time you want to access (File > Open & Export > Other User's Folder) or add it to your list of folders (How to Access Another Mailbox in Outlook). To enable the second method, whether set by delegate or sharing permissions, the mailbox must have an additional sharing setting (details under Set permissions to allow adding the shared mailbox to Outlook, below).

Using delegate access

Using folder permissions

  1. In Outlook, right-click your Inbox folder (or another if you like) and click Properties

  2. Go to the Permissions tab
  3. Click Add to choose the person you would like to grant access
  4. Choose the permissions you want, likely Reviewer for access to read content. Details on permissions are available at Explanation of folder permission levels in UAlbany Mail.

  5. Click OK to save the setting

Set permissions to allow adding the shared mailbox to Outlook

  1. In Outlook, right-click your account's top-level folder (likely titled with your e-mail address) and click Folder Permissions

  2. Click Add to choose the person you would like to grant access
  3. Choose the permission of Folder Visible, which will allow access to shared folders within the account
