To release and renew your Internet Protocol (IP) address, follow the instructions below.

Instructions

Windows

Release IP Address

  1. From the Start menu, select Run...

  2. In the "Open:" field, enter cmd

  3. Enter: ipconfig /release

Renew IP Address

  1. From the Start menu, select Run...

  2. In the "Open:" field, enter cmd

  3. Enter: ipconfig /renew

Mac OS X

Release/Renew IP Address

  1. Click on the Network Control Panel from within System Preferences.

  2. Click the "Renew My DHCP Lease" button.

  3. Your computer will release and renew its IP address immediately.
