WiFi Troubleshooting - Check system certificates

Action

If a computer lacks the proper root certificates, it will not trust the certificate used to identify UAlbany WiFi networks, causing the connection to fail. Use the steps below to check if the required certificate is installed in Windows.

Instructions

Check if USERTrust RSA CA Certification Authority is installed by taking the following steps:

  1. Search for and open "Manage Computer Certificates" in Start menu

  2. Navigate to "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" > "Certificates"

  3. Look for the USERTrust RSA CA Certification Authority certificate in the list

Devices with supported operating systems usually have their certificate stores automatically updated.

Devices whose operating systems are no longer supported may have outdated certificate stores, so may need to be set to ignore the certificate or manually install it.
