Connecting to UAlbany WiFi - Linux - Detailed

Action

To connect to UAlbany WiFi using a Linux device, follow the steps below.

Instructions

  1. Click on the NetworkManager icon in your panel, and select UAlbanyWiFi

  2. Set the Authentication type to PEAP and fill in your NetID and password.

  3. Optionally, select the CA Certificate for extra security. The CA Cert to use is from USERTrust RSA Certification Authority. It is located in /etc/ssl/certs.



  4. Connect

If you are not able to connect to the wireless network, make sure that your wireless driver is properly enabled. You may need to be connected through Ethernet to update your drivers.

  1. In your panel click on System

  2. Under System select Administration.

  3. In the adjacent menu select Hardware Drivers. Your computer will search for drivers and any updates.

  4. Select your wireless driver and then at the bottom of the window select Activate.

Your wireless driver will become enabled and you should be able to establish a wireless connection with the network.
