To connect to UAlbany WiFi using a device type not specifically included at Getting Connected - UAlbany WiFi, follow the general steps below.
Instructions
General Steps
- Open WiFi settings
- Make sure that WiFi is set to On
- View the list of available WiFi networks appears
- Select UAlbanyWiFi
- Enter your Username and password when prompted
- In the Username field, enter your UAlbany NetID
- In the Password field, enter your password
- Choose to connect
- You may need to accept/trust the security certificate in order to connect to UAlbanyWiFi
Settings you may need to enter
Network name
- Wireless Network Name (SSID): UAlbanyWiFi
Security Settings
- Network Authentication: WPA2-Enterprise
- Data Encryption: AES
- Enable 802.1x: Place a check mark if not already there
- Authentication (EAP) type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
PEAP User Properties
- Authentication Method (Protocol): Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
EAP-MSCHAP v2 Properties
- Prompt each time I connect
OR - Remove the check mark from "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password"
- User Name: your UAlbany NetID
- Domain: Leave Blank
- Password: your password
PEAP Server Properties
- Allow Intermediate Certificates: Place a check mark
