Connecting to UAlbany WiFi - Windows Mobile

Action

To connect to UAlbany WiFi using a Windows Mobile-based device, follow the steps below.

Windows Mobile is no longer supported. Any devices still running Windows Mobile should be upgraded or replaced.

Instructions

Windows Mobile devices equipped with a WiFi card that supports WPA Enterprise encryption are able to access UAlbanyWiFi.

  1. Navigate to Settings, then Connections, and click on WiFi.

  2. The Configure Wireless Networks screen should appear. Click Add New.

  3. In capital letters, enter UAlbanyWiFi for the Network name. Then click Next.

  4. The Authentication needs to be WPA, and set Data Encryption to be AES Click Next.

  5. For EAP Type, the default setting should be PEAP. Leave this alone, and press Finish.

  6. You should be back at the WiFi screen now. Click on the UAlbanyWiFi profile and choose Connect.

  7. The first time you connect, Windows will ask you for a User name and password. Type in your UAlbany NetID and password into the appropriate boxes. Make sure your NetID is typed in using lower-case letters. Leave Domain blank and check the box for Save Password

  8. It might take about 30 seconds, but the device should connect.

  9. If you want to change your saved password in the future, you can do so by going to the WiFi tab, clicking on the profile, and choosing Remove Settings. This will erase all the settings (including your NetID and password), so you will have to follow these instructions again.
