Action

The following instructions are provided to enable the download and installation of Debian Linux in HU-25 (Computer Science department lab) to support the needs of some computer science courses.

Instructions

1. In Windows search field, type “Store” and the following prompt will display.
   
   
2. Click Microsoft Store
   
   
   
   
3. In the Microsoft Store search field type “Debian Linux”
   
   
4. Click the Debian Linux app in the displayed results.
   
   
   
   

5. Click Get
   
   
   
   Note: If Debian Linux has been previously downloaded to the computer in your profile, you don't need to "Get" the app. 
   In that case you'll be prompted with the following:

    View Image...

   

   If prompted, close the Sign-in pop-up to proceed with installation for your profile.

   
   
   

6. If prompted to use across your devices, click No thanks.
   
   
   
   
7. When installation is complete, click Open
   
   
   
8. When prompted, create a Debian Linux username and password for your profile on this computer.
   Note: This account applies only to the computer on which it is created.
   
   
   
   
9. Debian Linux will then be read to use.
   
   
   
   
10. To launch Debian Linux on subsequent sessions on the same computer, type Debia Linux in the Windows search field.
    
    
    Note: Debian Linux will only be available on computers on which you have installed it to your profile. 
    If you work at a computer where you have not installed the app with your Windows profile, you'll need to complete the download/installation on the new computer.
