SAS - Installation Instructions

  • Before installing, one must first request SAS from the ITS Software Catalog in order to install it: ITS Software Catalog - askIT - Wikis @ UAlbany

  • Please note that the required license file will also be attached to the email from ITS.

  • You will need approximately 40GB of available drive space to download/install SAS.

  1. After receiving an Email from ITS with the SAS license, click the installation files link.

  2. Click Download.

  3. Allow time for the software to download.

The file size is nearly 20GB in size. The download may take some time to finish.

  1. Extract the downloaded Zip file.

  1. Locate where the files were extracted and double-click on setup.

  2. Choose your preferred language and click OK.

  3. Ensure Install SAS software is selected and click Next.

  4. Leave the default SAS Home directory and click Next.

  5. Select Install SAS Foundation and Related software is selected and click Next.

  6. Click Next, making sure to leave the pre-selected defaults.

  7. When selecting which mode of SAS Foundation to install, make sure 64-bit Native Mode is selected and click Next.

  8. When selecting which mode of SAS Enterprise Guide to install, make sure 32-bit Compatibility Mode is selected and click Next.

  9. Leave the default selections for the SAS Foundation products to install and click Next.

  10. Download the license file that was included in the Email sent from ITS.

  11. Click Browse to select the SAS installation data file that you downloaded.

  12. Click on the file that you downloaded and click Open.

  13. Click Next.

  14. Select the languages that you wish to install. Click Clear All if you only wish to install English. Click Next.

  15. Confirm that your Language (Region) [Locate] is set to your preference and click Next.

  16. Ensure SAS Foundation (64-bit) is selected then click Next.

  17. Allow time for the installer to check your system. Click Next once complete.

  18. Click Start to begin installation.

The installation of SAS can take up to an hour to complete. Please be patient.

  1. One the installer states Deployment Complete, click Next.

  2. On the Seclect Support Option screen, ensure Do Not Send is selected then click Next.

  3. Click Finish to complete the SAS installation.
