Configuring Android for UAlbany Mail
Action
To set up your UAlbany Mail account using the built-in email app on an Android phone, follow the steps below.
These instructions were developed using a Google Pixel running Android 8.1.0. Setup may vary slightly between other versions. Visit Microsoft's documentation for more information.

Before proceeding, make sure to remove any battery saver apps or settings.
Tap Settings.
Scroll to Accounts or Users & Accounts.
Tap Add Account.
Tap Exchange (May also be called Microsoft 365, Corporate, Microsoft Exchange, or ActiveSync).
Enter your full UAlbany Mail email address (e.g. jdoe@albany.edu) and tap Next.
Enter your UAlbany Password and tap Next.
Your phone will retrieve setup information from the UAlbany Mail system. Tap OK on the Redirect Request window.
If prompted for more detail, use the following settings:
Username: your full UAlbany Mail email address (e.g. jdoe@albany.edu)
Password: your UAlbany password (if you used your new app password, leave it entered)
Domain (if listed): leave blank
Server: outlook.office365.com
When prompted, tap OK to allow outlook.office365.com to remotely control some security features on your phone (required).
Scroll down and tap Activate this device admin app on the following list of permission details and prompt
Click Next to finish setup
Your UAlbany Mail Inbox will now be synced with your phone. This may take several seconds or minutes depending on the size of your Inbox. Your calendar, contacts and tasks will also sync depending on which account options you selected.
If you would like to change options like which features to sync or the frequency of sync, open Settings, go to Users and Accounts, and tap the Exchange account you just added.
