Sending Broadcast Emails

Action

There are several Listserv Lists that can be used to send out broadcast emails to large UAlbany audiences (All Faculty/Staff, All Students, etc.).  Each University Division has a "-Notices" mailbox (e.g. "ITS-Notices", "Office of the President-Notices", etc.) which has access to send to these lists.  In order to send messages from one of the "-Notices" mailboxes, you will need to be granted permission by ITS.

Instructions

  1. Start a new email message.

  2. Change the From field to your "-Notices" mailbox.

    2. Instructions for Outlook Web App (OWA) .

  3. Enter the appropriate Broadcast Email List address for the To: field of your new message.

  4. Compose your message. 

  5. Review your message.

  6. Once you are confident everything looks as you wish, send the message. 

  7. Listserv will respond to the email account you used to send the message with a note asking you to confirm your posting.  It may take a couple of minutes to receive this message.  Click the link in that message to approve your posting.

  8. Your message will then be distributed to the appropriate audience.
