Using a Duo Hardware Token

No Smart phone? No problem. Ask ITS for a free Hardware Token. 

Use the instructions below after you have been issued a hardware token by ITS.

  1. Log into a campus IT service, such as MyUAlbany, with your NetID and password.

  2. At the Duo prompt select 'Other Options'.

  3. Select 'Hardware token' and get your Duo hardware token

    out for use. (Note: The Token option only appears after ITS has processed your Token request).

  4. Get the 6-digit passcode to enter by pressing the green button on your hardware token.

  5. Enter the 6-digit passcode displayed from the Duo hardware token into the passcode box and select 'Verify'.

  6. Be Cyber Smart:  To Trust or Not to Trust?

  • If you are using a public computer or kiosk select 'No, do not trust browser'.

  • If you are using a personal trusted device, we recommend selecting 'Yes, trust browser' to reduce the number of times you are prompted by Duo.

  1. You have successfully authenticated.

Handle with Care

Your Hardware Token is registered to you and cannot be used by others. Like the keys to your residence, keep it secure at all times. If you misplace, break, or believe it has been stolen, it must be deactivated as soon as possible.
